Synopsis: Jim Gordon commands a unit of the famed Flying Tigers, the American Volunteer Group which fought the Japanese in China before America's entry into World War II. Gordon must send his outnumbered band of fighter pilots out against overwhelming odds while juggling the disparate personalities and problems of his fellow flyers. In particular, he must handle the difficulties created by a reckless hot-shot pilot named Woody Jason, who not only wants to fight a one-man war but to waltz off with Gordon's girlfriend.

劇情介紹: 本片是以美國空軍在第二次世界大戰時組織的"飛虎隊"的事蹟為藍本改編，而拍攝的空戰影片.這支隊伍是由陳納德將軍為首，率隊為中國遠征日本領空,每擊落一架日機，即可領賞美金500，韋恩擔任小隊長，隨行的副隊長，凱利是一位生性多疑的老兵，卡洛與強斯則是剛報到的新兵。卡洛是一位性情急燥,血氣方剛的年輕小伙仔，報到之後不斷製造麻煩，有一回，他和另位新兵馬堂努為了一位陣亡的戰友而爭吵不休，不久之後,馬堂努被指派跟隨小隊長韋恩一同出航，他光榮地戰死在空中，而卡洛仍然不求上進，仍然不斷製造麻煩,甚至搶奪別人的女朋友，既使派他出航，他不時插進別人航道，兇猛地射下一架又一架的日機，同時賺進許多500美金，可是他這種窮兇惡極的自私行為，不但違反規定，更危及隊友的飛行安全。有一次卡與女朋友愛得難分難捨，因而錯失飛行任務.好友凱利答應指他出任務以免他被記過,凱利眼睛曾經在戰場上受過傷，因此視力不良，這次為了好友勉強出航，結果因為失策導致中彈身亡。韋恩憤而決定將卡洛逐出飛虎隊，卡洛頓時悔悟，懇求韋恩讓他繼續留任，再給他一次機會出任務.韋恩熬不過他要求，答應與他一同出航轟炸日本最重要的一道鐵橋，不幸就在這次任務中，他們的飛機被導航飛戰擊中，韋恩馬上要卡洛跳機逃生，他還不清楚卡洛已經身負重傷。卡洛順手將韋恩推出機外，自已架機衝向鐵橋，炸斷橋樑並炸毀一列戴滿日軍的火車。
